Jude commisioned a garden redesign following a move to her new home.
During the consultation, she told us that she loved gardening, its her real passion, and that she wanted beautiful planting opportunities and swathes of bold colour.
We discovered that Jude loves entertaining her family and her grandchildren when they visit from America so they needed a large expanse of grass to play too.
Jude wanted a more traditional material choice married to a contemporary design.
We developed our concepts to include a number of seating areas to take in morning coffee, a sundowner patio and a main eating and BBQ area.
Structure was added with upright timbers to give a flow through the space and arches too, that take you on a journey as you transition through the space
A granite edged lawn gives a crisp finish to define the beds that surround the lawn.
Structural planting was completed by us to include Amanogawa Cherry trees to give height, colour but without spreading branches.
A subtle water feature was designed to the rear patio to give a quiet "babbling brook" to this relaxing area.
Tricia - Gosforth
A neighbour recommended Geko Design to Tricia after we transformed their garden a number of years ago.
A large garden in Gosforth, Tricia had moved in to the property and was a little phased by the size of the space and what could be possible.
Previous owners of the house had planted quite deep borders that Tricia neither liked nor wanted to maintain, having a busy life with her business, family and life commitments.
We discovered that a large patio wasnt very necessary as Tricia didnt entertain more than 4-5 people at most in the garden.
Her must haves were low maintenance combined with a great view from her studio room to get a connection with the garden and better use of a shaded area to the rear of the space.
We designed a new space with dynamic shaping of the new lawn to give form and structure, An adapted patio that worked better for Tricias needs and a "snug" pergola to towards the rear of the garden to give an alternate view of the new space and to provide a focal point to the garden too.
Kevin and Lalita - Great Park
A newbuild property, with a lack lustre slightly sloping garden laid to lawn when Kevin and Lalita moved in. The patio was uninspiring and didnt reflect their excellent taste that they'd decorated and furnished with inside the home.
The needs for the garden were quite in depth - a large entertaining area for outdoor cooking and eating, a relaxing seating area, room to play for their children and a hot tub too. Low maintenance planting was important for foliage and colour and to give structure.
We designed the garden concept to make the most of the slope and created essentially, a tiered garden that works on all levels.
Materials were very contemporary with porcelain paving, composite decking and crisp render.
Zoning in this garden was important and this was achieved by height changes, contrasting materials and structural elements too.
Subtle lighting set this garden off and makes for a very usable space year round
